About Kambiz Naficy

Kambiz Naficy is a poet, meditation master, and spiritual healer who is committed to helping individuals reach their full life potential through inner development and growth.

This commitment evolved into his life-work, as he reached a pivotal moment of change in his own life. Emerging from his strong belief in the power of an inner-directed life, and a natural fusing of the Persian and Western cultures in his background, Kambiz decided to leave a highly successful professional life to take the leap toward the Soul.

Born in Iran, Kambiz recalls his own personal deep connection with the wisdom of the Persian poets like Rumi and Hafez, as recited to him by his father when he was a just a boy with a philosophical nature.

When he was nine, he was catapulted  into Western culture, when his father accepted a  diplomatic mission to the United States during the Kennedy Era.  Much  later, in his mid-twenties, Kambiz was lost in compromise and alienated from his poetic and philosophical Self. At this point, he had focused his education on the business field, earning graduate degrees from The Iran Center for Management, an affiliate of Harvard Business School (1976), and Colombia University (1980).  By his thirties, he had already secured a prestigious management position on Wall Street, owned his own company, and enjoyed the material symbols of affluence.

Then, in his own words, he describes the beginnings of a remarkable shift…

“…I began to outgrow my old ways of life – like a shoe that does not fit no matter how hard you try, my emerging self no longer fit into my old life. One day, I looked around and found that all the leaders that I admired, were themselves full of fear and worries.  Their marriages were failing, their children lacking love, and their sense of alienation from their fellow-man was often anesthetized by drugs.  No matter where I looked, I could not find a person who was truly inner-directed, and creating success from the inside-out—that is when my faith in the external order of things began to fade. I began to search within.”

It was then that Kambiz sold his company, traveled to the Iowa corn fields and retired into two years of deep meditation at Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa.  There he began intensive study of the  Indian Vedantas and also found striking parallels between the Vedas and quantum physics. He later traveled to India pursuing studies with noted Indian scholars and Yogic masters, while also completing a graduate degree in poetry at The New School of Social Research in Manhattan (1999).

From ten years of studying theVedas and quantum physics, emerged The Joy of Life Organization which Kambiz established, in Iran, after a 26-year absence from his homeland.  Kambiz began offering workshops and seminars  internationally and soon Joy of Life branches spread to Sri Lanka, India, Europe, and the U.S.  His teachings reflect his unique ability to draw parallels between ancient spiritual teachings and Western holistic sciences focused on self-transformation and inner healing.  What is especially unique about his approach  is the blend of spirituality and psychology; both of which he thinks must be addressed for true transformation.

Kambiz is in the process of carrying out his vision to bring these workshops across oceans and cultures where many have already benefited from his teachings of self-exploration, mental concentration, and inner-directed paths to creativity and self-knowledge.
